2025 Gold Cup Quarterfinals Preview

The 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals are set to take place this Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29. After an exciting opening round, the eight teams moving on to the next round are Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. 


The quarterfinals will begin with Panama vs Honduras at 7:15 p.m. ET, followed by Mexico vs Saudi Arabia at 10:15 p.m. ET. Both games will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. 


Day two of the quarterfinals will feature Canada vs Guatemala at 4 p.m. ET, followed by United States vs Costa Rica at 7 p.m. ET. Both games will take place at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.


The United States finished at the top of Group D, winning all three of their matches. They scored eight goals and only conceded one. Saudi Arabia went 1-1-1 but was still able to slip into the quarterfinal round. They scored two goals and conceded two in the opening round. 


Mexico finished at the top of group A, with Costa Rica right behind them. Both teams won two of their games and ended up drawing each other. They finished the group stage tied in points, but Mexico took the top spot because they had a better goal differential of +3, while Costa Rica had one of +2.


Canada won two out of their three games and drew one, giving them seven points, and landed at the top of Group B. They scored nine goals in three games and only conceded one, ending the first round with the highest goal differential. Honduras followed closely behind Canada, coming in second place in Group B. With two wins and one loss, Honduras ended with six points but a goal differential of -3. 


Panama had a tremendous outing in the first round, going 3-0-0. They scored 10 goals and conceded only three. Guatemala ended the first round with two wins and one loss. They scored four goals and allowed three, which proved to be enough to make it into the second round.


Panama and the United States were the only teams to win all of their games in the group stage, dominating their respective groups.
